The Rhodesian Ridgeback
 
The Rhodesian Ridgeback is a big size, short-haired, brown (bright or dark) dog. The particularity of this dog is the ridge on his back, due to the hair growing in the opposite direction of the rest of the coat.
 
The native environment of this breed is South Africa, where it was used as an all-purpose dog by the colonists during their explorations. The main tasks of this dog were hunting and protecting the family, the property and the livestock.
The Rhodesian Ridgeback is very close to the family and establishes with his masters a relationship of deep and reciprocal love, devotion and fidelity.
 
It is highly recommended to avoid violent and/or coercive techniques of training. It is rather advised to motivate the dog through the game and co-operation with the master.
